I am offering the following additional workshops with flexibility of scheduling either on a weekday or weekend at my workroom based in Newton, South Australia, these are one on one tuition (or include a friend with a 10% discount on the second booking).
 
1. Double Bonded, Rolled Edged Lampshades (fabric/wallpaper on the inside and fabric outside); OR
2. Lampshade Recovery - Tapered or Drum Bonded, Rolled Edged Lampshade (up to 17" (43cm) in diameter) - discuss your lampshade recovery project with me prior to booking
 
You don't need to have any experience to run either workshop, however if you are new to the craft, the workshop - Introduction to Bonded, Rolled Edged Lampshades which are also run by myself and held at Abbode Interiors is a great place to start.  Click here for further details on these fabulous and popular group workshops of max 8 people.
 
With focused personal attention and a pace that suits your own learning, either workshop will run for approximately 3 hours and you will make and take home your own lampshade!  Learn the professional techniques in making Bonded, Rolled Edged Lampshades from accomplished lampshade maker, Laura of Amore Lampshades who has been making lampshades for the last 15 years.
 
For workshop 1 - Double Bonded, Rolled Edged Lampshades - You can achieve very interesting effects with these types of lampshades with bonding fabric or wallpaper to the inside of the lampshade and finish with bonded fabric on the outside.  The lampshade backing product that I use is semi-transparent allowing light to come through the lampshade when switched on.  Having patterned fabric or wallpaper on the inside and finishing with fabric on the outside allows the pattern to come through the lampshade when switched on giving beautiful effects (see images above for examples of these shades).  You will have the choice of making either a Drum or Tapered lampshade (various sizes offered, see below).  All components needed to make the lampshade will be supplied, excluding the fabric/wallpaper.  There will be a selection of beautiful designer fabrics available on the day to purchase from Sarah Drayton, Walter G and Cotton & Print Co., or you can bring along your own fabric (I will discuss your fabric/wallpaper suitability with you prior to the day).
 
You will make and take home either a Drum (straight sided) or Tapered Bonded rolled edged lampshade of the dimensions from the following choice (with this workshop you will need to choose a size lampshade prior to attending so I can prepare supplies): 
 
Tapered Lampshade: Bottom diameter: 35cm by Height: 25cm
Tapered Lampshade: Bottom diameter: 38cm by Height: 25cm
 
Tall Tapered Lampshade - Mid Century Style: Bottom diameter: 33cm by Height: 35cm
 
Drum Lampshade: Bottom diameter: 35cm by Height: 25cm
Drum Lampshade: Bottom diameter: 38cm by Height: 27cm
Drum Lampshade: Bottom diameter: 40cm by Height: 29cm
 
It also includes instructions with colour photos to take away with you, providing you with the techniques to make well-constructed lampshades and with confidence if you decide to make further shades following the workshop.
 
For workshop 2 - Lampshade Recovery - Tapered or Drum Bonded, Rolled Edged Lampshade - You may have a Bonded lampshade of a particular size that you wish to recover, this workshop will finish them with a rolled edge finish, similar to all the other workshops.  Please contact me to discuss your recovery project prior to booking.
